Bishop Cotton Boys School has its origins in the vision of Bishop George Lynch Cotton of Calcutta. His idea was to build schools to educate European and Eurasian children with limited resources. The idea was supported by Viceroy Lord Canning. The Bangalore school became a reality at the hands of Rev. Samuel Thomas Pettigrew, Chaplain of St. Mark's Church. Bishop Cotton School opened in a humble house on high ground on April 19, 1865, with Mr. G. Reynolds as its first principal. Bishop Cotton Children's School is a school with a rich history coupled with rapid innovation and has made its mark on all aspects of education. Cottons is a perfect combination of holistic education along with character building, extracurricular activities, and sports, all wrapped in a shell of discipline and respect for the Almighty.
