How we measured this: We used Google Trends for India from 30 April 2025 to 30 April 2026, in the "Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)" category. - Forms close: within one to two weeks of opening at most schools.

A.2 As per NEP 2020 and a ruling of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the minimum age for Class 1 in Haryana is 6 years. The minimum age for entry-level classes in Gurgaon for the 2027–28 academic session is as follows:
The cut-off date differs between schools. Heritage Xperiential Learning School, Sector 62 and GD Goenka Public School, Sector 48 count age as on 31 March, while Delhi Public School, Sector 45 counts it as on 1 April. A.6 Yes. Haryana runs two separate schemes:
- RTE free seats: private unaided schools reserve at least 25% of entry-level seats (pre-primary and Class 1) for children from economically weaker families. Applications open online around April, after the session has begun. Family income must be below ₹1.80 lakh as per the Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra). For 2026–27, Haryana offered 60,479 such seats across 7,505 private schools.
- CHIRAG scheme: students currently in government schools can apply for admission to a private school for Classes 6 to 12, and the state pays the tuition fee. Applications open in March, and seats are allotted by draw when applications exceed seats.
