Sainik School Admission Process 2026: Registration (Started) for Class 6 & Class 9, Form Filling Steps, Dates, & Important Guidelines

The Sainik School admission process has officially begun with the start of the AISSEE 2026 online application form on October 10, 2025. The last date to apply is October 30, 2025, up to 5 PM. Students can register and apply online on the official portal, exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society/. 

Registered candidates can login with their application number and password to complete the online application form for the Sainik School entrance exam. Applicants get 2–3 days to correct editable details filled in the application form, i.e. from November 2-4, 2025. Candidates who pass the Sainik School exam will need to undergo a medical exam in military hospitals, and the final merit list is prepared using both exam and medical results.

Steps in Sainik School Admission Process

We have mentioned below the steps for the admission process of Sainik School that interested parents can check to help their children sail through the admissions without any difficulty or mistakes:

• Parents should first check Sainik School Eligibility Criteria for Class 6 or 9:

  • Class 6: Age 10-12 (as of March 31, 2026), passed Class 5, boys and girls eligible.

  • Class 9: Age 13-15 (as of March 31, 2026), passed Class 8, boys only in traditional schools, girls in approved new schools.

• Eligible students must register via the official portal of NTA Sainik School Society using their name, email, and mobile number.

• After registration, keep the application number safe and use it with your password to fill out the online application form.

• Fill out personal, academic, parent details, exam centre, and school choice in the form.

• Scan and upload all the prescribed documents below for verification at the final stages of the admission process:

  • A clear, scanned photo of the student must be in JPG format, with a size ranging from 10 KB to 200 KB.

  • A scanned image of the student’s signature is needed in JPG format and should be between 10 KB and 50 KB.

  • A scanned left thumb impression in JPG format, sized between 10 KB and 50 KB, is required. If the left thumb cannot be used, then use the right thumb instead.

  • Upload a scanned copy of the Date of Birth Certificate from a valid authority.

  • Provide a scanned Domicile Certificate.

  • Attach a scanned Caste, Community, or Category Certificate if it applies.

  • If applying under the Defence category, include a Certificate of Service; for ex-servicemen, also add a PPO if needed.

  • If the student studies in an approved New Sainik School, add a certificate from their Principal confirming this.

  • All certificates mentioned above must be in PDF format, and each should be between 50 KB and 300 KB in size.

• Verify form and submit the Sainik School fees of Rs 850 for General/Defence/OBC, or Rs 700 for SC/ST.

• Pay via SBI Bank Payment Gateway (Credit Card/ UPI/ Net Banking/ Debit Card) and keep payment proof.

• Parents must take a printout of the payment confirmation page and keep it as proof of the fee paid. 

• The above application process for admission is completely online, and no offline form submissions will be entertained.

• Online form correction allowed for 2-3 days from November 2-4, 2025; some details are editable, others are not. During this period, parents can change details like gender, date of birth, category, medium, father's name, and mother's name. 

• While details like Candidate's Name, Photo & Signature, Mobile Number, Email Address, Permanent & Correspondence Address, and Exam City cannot be edited. 

• Download the Sainik School Admit Card 8-9 days before the exam.

• Appear for the AISSEE Sainik School pen-and-paper exam. 

• General/OBC/Defence categories must score 25% per subject and 40% overall; SC/ST students qualify by rank, eligibility, and medical test.

• Sainik School Result & provisional merit list likely in March 2026; download it using application number and DOB.

• Candidates whose result column in the merit list mentions “Qualified for SS and NSS” will proceed for the Sainik School e-counselling. 

• Qualified candidates re-register for e-counselling at pesa.ncog.gov.in/sainikschoolecounselling.

• Seats allotted by Sainik Schools Society based on choices and merit; refusal means no future offer from that school.

• Final merit list combines the Sainik School AISSEE 2026 scores and medical fitness results. 

• Bring original and photocopies of documents for final verification.
