How to Prepare for AISSEE based on the Sainik School Entrance Exam Pattern?

As per the Sainik School pattern for AISSEE, Mathematics is the highest weightage subject, covering 150 marks in Class 6 and 200 marks in Class 9 syllabus. So, students must first focus on the major topics covered in Mathematics, then shift to preparing for other subjects with low weightage, like Intelligence, English, GK, General and Social Science.

Preparation Strategy According to AISSEE Class 6 Exam Pattern

  • Learn important GK facts. Remember things about India’s history, geography, science, and news. The more you know, the better, as this would help in avoiding the guesswork.

  • Solve old question papers and mock papers by setting a timer (2.5 hours for Class 6 and 3 hours for Class 9).

  • Practice marking answers on the OMR sheet and finishing on time.

  • After each subject, revise and work harder on topics that are tough for you. Keep short notes for quick revision.

  • Divide your study time according to your strengths and weaknesses, for example: give about 60 minutes to maths, 30 minutes to intelligence, 30 minutes to language, 25 minutes to GK, and 5 minutes to revise.

  • Do maths questions daily from the NCERT books. Focus more on problems that are tricky or lengthy. Get better at solving them fast to save time for revision during the exam.

  • After you finish studying each subject, take some time to revise the topics. Focus more on the parts you found difficult in your mock tests. Keep your revision notes ready so you can revise them quickly.

  • Solve puzzles and work on pattern recognition, analogies (visual and mathematical), and spatial reasoning to get better at answering questions from the Intelligence section. This section is tricky, so try to devote more time to solving questions from previous years’ papers and mock papers.

Preparation Strategy According to AISSEE Class 9 Exam Pattern

Spend extra time on maths since it’s the highest weightage section (50 questions, 4 marks each, total 200 marks). Go over your Class 8 NCERT book, practice doing sums quickly, and get used to answering multiple-choice questions.

  • Practice questions from General Science and Social Studies (25 questions each, 2 marks for each question). Study main ideas and facts from your Class 8 books, and focus on MCQs that have short explanations.

  • Use previous years’ papers and set a timer for 3 hours. Practice answering MCQs and marking the OMR sheet within that time.

  • After studying each subject, take time to revise. Work more on any weak topics you noticed in your practice tests, and keep your notes close by for a quick revision.

  • Take full-length mock tests (3 hours, 150 MCQs, 400 marks) often, to develop exam speed and time management.

  • Keep revising with summary notes and past Class 9 AISSEE papers. Focus on application-based, objective questions from all five sections.
