There are 15 Houses with the strength of each House varying from 60 to 70 cadets. Each House is divided into two wings. Each wing is supervised by a Housemaster. Administrative arrangements of the House are supervised by Hostel Ward boys. Each House has one House Captain. The House Captain is selected from Class XII on the basis of all round performance. All meals are taken in the Central Dining Hall with House Masters and Ward Boys. An experienced Mess Manager ensures that nourishing, wholesome, and calorific fare fills young stomachs. Old students of this school come back during Founder’s Day and during Alumni Meet and attend ”At Home” and revive old memories.

School has modern swimming pool of 25 metres with lanes for competition. Cadets are trained by well qualified PTI Staff.

The school also has a well equipped gymnasium with multi gym equipments to keep cadets fit and healthy.

The school has 7 horses and a well qualified Horse Instructor to train the cadets. The horses are trained on Show jumping skills and also used to escort the VIPs during various ceremonial events.

The department of Art and Craft is currently headed by Mr Ashutosh Mukherjee. with waste experience in this domain, Mr Mukherjee tries to rear the creative skills of the cadets. the department has a plethora of art and craft work that were exhibited in various places and brought laurels for the Institution.

Sainik School Tilaiya Library is acting as a powerful knowledge and information resource center. This works as a hub of educational activities of this esteemed institution and being utilized as a knowledge laboratory. The Library of Sainik School Tiliaya is one of the largest libraries in Sainik Schools with a collection of more than 18,000 books and non-book materials like CDs, DVDs, eBooks etc. It is catering informational, recreational, curriculum and competitive (UPSC, Olympiad, NTSE etc.) need of students and staff. The library is rich in its collection having variety of books such as fiction, non-fictions, biographies, UPSC NDA/NA Books, SSB guides, children books, Reference books, educational CD’s and DVD,s, eBooks etc.

The School is well-equipped with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computer labs with the latest machines and broadband internet facility as well as multimedia teaching rooms that integrate technology with traditional methods.

Sainik School Tilaiya has a wonderful language lab which helps the cadets to improve their phonetics, pronunciation, Provides better grasp over language, improve their spoken skill, spelling, etc.
