It gives me great pleasure to communicate through this medium of our web-site which is a maiden venture of our CBSE section. National High School, Kolkata managed by N.R.Iyer Memorial Education Society which has three campuses , with two for West Bengal Board and one for CBSE.
Our school received CBSE affiliation from April’2016. With more than 2500 students and more than 100 teachers in its rolls in this section, the aim of the school is to impart quality education to its students so that the student become a good citizen of the country. Apart from good infrastructure in the form of inter-active class rooms, physics/chemistry/Geography/Computer/Language labs we have a whole team of highly qualified teachers who are striving to give their best.
Our School gives focus on Sports activities and our students had done well in Sports by winning many laurels and awards in various sports like Cricket, Rowing, Karate, Swimming etc.
Considering the interest of our students, academics we are in the midst of starting a separate set-up for sports related activities so that the school country could produce able sportsmen for the country.

Celebrating the fact that each student is different as a person and a learner National High School is an amazing play ground where each child unleashes his hopes and dreams to soar high. Guarding their opening minds from folly’s snare and planting heavenly virtues in their tender hearts, it gives me immense pleasure while walking down the corridors to see students at ease, feeling happy, safe and secure embracing each new day, getting involved and smilingly taking confident strides in their learning process. . For the full flowering of the child our school provides ample opportunities for Sports and Physical training and better understanding of knowledge and innovation with the help of modern technology. The child centric curriculum upholds the dignity of the child in the academic and social fabric. I thank the endeavour of the teachers to adapt new strategies and teaching – learning techniques to instil in the children a sense of love and reverence for learning which makes them ready to face challenges even when in lost paradise. The rate of change in every sphere is expeditious with the enhanced knowledge exchange and technological development. Globalisation demands a new dimension to our approach to education, so a wide range of multi-dimensional activities are organised which go a long way in propelling self-belief, confidence in decision making and problem solving along with augmentation of soft skills. In National High School ,we enterprise to map academic excellence with a good human value system, which in myriad ways is ingrained in the culture of the school and our commitment to such education will always persist in all our endeavours. In this pursuit of excellence, I appreciate our parent fraternity for supporting the school in every aspect. I also laud the relentless efforts of our teachers for giving their best in each child. In these 30 years of my teaching acquaintance, I have always been exhorting my students to be self-effacing, humble and disciplined while being ready to expand the horizons of their knowledge and skills by dreaming big and working hard.

National High School was established in 1913 as Anglo Tamil School. At present the school has two campuses, one at Sarat Bose Road (affiliated to WBBSE & WBCHSE) and the other at Hazra Road (affiliated to CBSE). Both schools function under the aegis of N.R.Iyer Memorial Education Society. Now in its 107th year the school aims to provide a comprehensive & value based education to its pupils at an affordable cost. The focus is on creating conscientious and responsible future citizens. Our students have done the school proud by faring consistently well in the board examinations through the years. The medium of instruction is English. Tamil is also offered as a language apart from Hindi and Bengali. Keeping functional competency in perspective several value added infrastructural facilities have been introduced in the last decade namely 1.Multimedia classrooms supported by NIIT 2.Close circuit surveillance system to ensure a secure environment for students & staff. 3. Public address system in individual classrooms 4.In-house medical & counselling facilities etc. We strive to give the best possible environment to students to grow up in. To identify and nurture the talents of its pupils, the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. In the last few years our students, teachers & staff have had the opportunity to interact with legends like Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam & Vishwanathan Anand. The Hon’ble Governors of our state have also graced several events hosted by the school and enlightened our students. Now we endeavour to uphold the values, upon which the institution was built and has grown and to maintain its glorious legacy for many more years to come.
