Our International Programme
One of the many goals of Purwanchal Vidyamandir is to help our students become global citizens. We have an International Programme in place led by a teacher-coordinator and assisted by all staff of the school. Over the years, the school has successfully forged partnerships with Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Nepal, South Korea and the USA. Recently we have also linked up with schools from the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey.
Pupils from Lower Infant to Class XII work on various projects that are specially designed for each class and are guided by teacher co-ordinators. Our links with international schools have immensely helped our students to understand the importance of education through Global Learning, develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to thrive as confident global citizens. The International Programme of the school has enabled us to interact with overseas schools on creative teaching practices and real-time global learning. We have created a place for ourselves internationally, and are a school accredited with having incorporated internationalism into our curriculum.
Our students celebrate festivals and important events with their peers across the world. They also love to exchange letters and share gifts with their international pen pals. The International Programme makes us a happy and vibrant school, linking us with the world of teachers and students across the globe.

Purwanchal Nagarik Samity, a multifaceted organisation in the Kankurgachi area, serving the society since 1976, set up Purwanchal Vidyamandir a well-equipped school in Kolkata. The school aims at providing comprehensive good quality education to boys and girls through the medium of English. It also aims to celebrate human excellence by encouraging students to be the best person of themselves.
Hence, our prime emphasis is on inculcating moral, cultural and spiritual values drawn from the best of our traditions and culture. The school works to the character and leadership qualities of students. It also builds the students total personality so that they may become honest, responsible and patriotic citizens, competent to face life’s various challenges with courage and self-confidence. The co-curricular activities taught are karate, quiz, elocution, chess, music, dance, art and craft in addition to physical training and sports.
A modern state- of the- art auditorium in the school facilitates various programmes and indoor games. The school has two computer laboratories and well-equipped laboratories with the latest software for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography. The school library boasts of a sizable collection of books, magazines and periodicals and new titles are added every year. The first batch of students appeared for the ICSE Examinations in 2006 and since then all students have passed in the Examinations every year.
In the year 2024 all 160 students who appeared for the ICSE Examinations passed. 34 students scored 90% and above. 75 students scored between 80% and 89%. The highest percentage of marks was 99.20% in Science and 96.40% Commerce. In the year 2024 all the 132 students who appeared for the ISC Examinations in 3 streams passed. 31 students scored 90% & above and 64 students scored between 80% & 89%. In Science the highest marks were 96.50%. In Commerce the highest marks were 97.25% and in Humanities 98.50%. The students of the school participate regularly in Scouts and Guides activities and inter-school events of sports and games. The students of the school also participate in different competitive / achievements tests for Scholarship. It is to be noted that the school has already made its significant presence in the educational field of Kolkata.
It gives us great pleasure to say that the prestigious International Dimension in Schools Award for the year 2022- 2025 was awarded to us in March, 2022. Purwanchal Vidyamandir has won the British Council Connecting Classrooms Project Award IDS for three consecutive periods 2015-2018, 2018-2021 and 2022-2025. The school is a member of the global School Alliance, U.K. programme. Villiers High School, UK students & faculty members visited our school in January 2025 for an international school exchange visit.
