I salute the two great visionaries, the founding fathers Sri B. P. Khaitan and Sri R. P. Khaitan, who took the bold and courageous steps to start the present school on 1st January, 1950 with 2 girl child by the name of “Ballygunge Siksha Sadan”, at Premises No. 54A, Gariahat Road, Kolkata – 700 019 comparatively being a very small accommodation. As such, they continued with their vision and mission in searching out a suitable larger area of land in spite of the financial constraint but they proceeded with determination to in their mission. Searching the past record and tracing the glorious history of genesis, our great Educational Institution reveals.
It is gratifying to note that the school is celebrating its 75 years of glorious existence as a great temple of learning and centre of excellence in career building, stepping future of hundreds and thousands of girl students and contributing to advancement and promotion of a strong society.
I wish the celebration a great success. I hope this occasion will inspire and motivate everyone associated with this great institution, such as, students, teaching and non-teaching staff and the management to work with renewed determination and vigour to take the institution a greater height of success. I have no doubt that this educational institution will reach a pinnacle of glory and excellence in the year to come.

My heart fills with pride and pleasure as I perceive the progress being made at The BSS .From its early beginning in the year 1950 – I have seen how the seed sown by an elite Society Leaders then , in the journey of empowering women this school has grown into a strong OAK tree.
The BSS ‘s mission has remained constant to create an environment that promotes academic excellence, inspires intellectual curiosity, strong ethical
values of integrity and respect for elders. I firmly believe that education should foster confidence, discipline, clarity in thought and decision-making ability to set and achieve goals, and above all social responsibility as a Life-long process.

As a part of the Managing Committee of this esteemed Institution The BSS School , I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication, passion, and excellence that define our school community.
Over the past year after the board has changed to CISCE ,we have made remarkable strides in academic achievements and co-curricular activities. Our students continue to amaze us with their talents, their curiosity for learning, and their compassion for one another. Equally commendable are our teachers and staff, whose tireless efforts ensure that our school remains a nurturing and challenging environment for all.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to our parents, whose unwavering support plays such a crucial role in the success of our students.

A pivotal role of education lies in shaping the personality of a child into a healthy mind and happy soul, who is not only equipped with 21st century skills and aptitude required for academic excellence but also ready to face the challenges of life in a balanced and harmonious way. Therefore, the system of education should work as a catalyst in making each child a balanced human being having his core strengths embedded in the learning experiences.
At The BSS School, we enterprise to map academic excellence with a good human value system, which in myriad ways is ingrained in the culture of the
school. To achieve this, we strongly feel that a paradigm shift in the minds of all stake holders should take place so that when the school becomes the hub to initiate and formalize education it has its tenets enshrined in a good value system; the extension of which is thereby taken home where it is further strengthened. With the change of Board to CISCE, its ethos is to motivate students to develop excellence and values, which are based on Indian and global experiences, and spiritual and cultural values.
In this pursuit of excellence, I appreciate our parent fraternity for supporting the school in every aspect. I also laud the relentless efforts of our teachers for giving their best in bringing out the best in each child.But I would exhort the students to be always modest, humble and disciplined, while being ready to expand the horizons of their knowledge and skills by dreaming big and working hard.
Each issue of our school magazine is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imaginations, and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations.
