"We learn, we serve", The motto itself says for Sainik School Punglwa, the 'Pride of Nagaland'. I find myself blessed to get the opportunity to serve as the ninth principal of this school and prepare the school cadets to become military leaders of tomorrow. As this school is really making difference in people's life all over Nagaland, our goal is to build a sense of community and trust between cadets, parents & staff.
The school is located in lush green valley of Punglwa and cadets learn to be sensitive & appreciate the needs and beauty of nature and contribute towards clean and healthy environment. The objective of this school is to impart academic training of highest quality, enable cadets to achieve requisite physical and mental endurance standards, proficiency in team games and to develop moral values and principles keeping pace with the advancement in technology and globalization.
Challenges in future are immense. The ultimate role of the school will be to motivate and empower its cadets to be life long learners, critical thinkers and productive members of an ever challenging global society.
I would also like to say that teachers have an influencing role in the students life. They mould us and in the process shape our future. What we learn from our teachers remain with us, throughout our lives. Teachers do need encouragement and support from the community to feel that their efforts are being recognized. We acknowledge their efforts and join hands with them to continue with the efforts to take our school to greater heights.

Sainik School, Punglwa About Us
Sainik School Punglwa (Nagaland) was inaugurated by the former Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri AK Antony On 12 May 2007. The establishment of the school was the result of the initiative of Nagaland Chapter of the Old Boys Association of Sainik Schools under the able leadership of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio, an alumnus of Sainik School, Purulia (WB).
This is a fully residential school for boys only and caters for maximum strength of 600 boys. It is administered by an autonomous body known as Sainik Schools Society having a Board of Governors, with Raksha Rajya Mantri as the Chairman.
The Chief Ministers or Education Ministers of States where the Sainik Schools are located are also the members of the Board of Governors. The School has a Local Board of Administration (LBA) which oversees the administration of the School and ensures that the general policies laid down by Board of Governors are implemented aptly. The Chief of Staff, 3 Corps is the Chairman of LBA. The Principal, a senior Defence Officer, is the administrative and the academic head of the institution. He is assisted by Vice Principal and Adm Officer, well-qualified and reasonably experienced academic and administrative staff.
