This school would not exist without the vision and determination of our founder Mrs. Elizabeth Yusuf. From its modest beginnings, the school has grown into a dynamic and thriving institution, thanks to the unwavering dedication, hard work, and collective spirit of the entire school community.
A school was never planned on the campus and exists today because of the enthusiasm of two staff’s wives who came up with the idea of teaching English to the resident children in the Bullock Cart canteen. Unsurprisingly, the village children did not want to be left out and slowly trickled in day by day until the school had a full class. It was then evident that there was an urgent need for an English medium school in the isolated area of Nhava. Our Founder grasped the initiative and started building a pre-primary school and opened four classes with children of various ages, and from then onwards there was no looking back.
The school has grown from a pre-primary to a complete senior secondary school affiliated to the CBSE board in the science and commerce streams. It has seen children develop, become more confident and shine in curricular, co-curricular and sports activities. This achievement would not have been possible without the initiative of our founder and the collective efforts of the principal, staff and students, past and present.

I was appointed by the School Management Committee as Chairperson in 2020 after the sad and very sudden demise of my mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Yusuf, its last Chairperson. Unfortunately, it was also during the COVID Pandemic, and the school had to continue to function and educate its students and also support and protect its staff. I would like to applaud the Principal and Staff for their support and sacrifice during that period to make it possible for LKM School to continue to function online.
Lady Khatun Marium School has made tremendous progress over the last three decades since its inception in 1990. In December, 2015 we celebrated our Silver Jubilee, to mark 25 years of glory and success as an English-medium school. It gives me immense pleasure to see how this little bud has bloomed into a beautiful flower and it is my intention to make sure that it continues to bloom.
We are indeed making rapid headway in becoming an institution in a class of its own amongst Navi Mumbai’s prestigious schools. From year to year we have upgraded our facilities and have been innovative in our march into the future. At LKM School we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where each student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated team of teachers continues to inspire and guide our students, instilling in them the values of integrity, empathy, and perseverance. The world is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and at LKM School, we are committed to preparing our students to thrive in this dynamic environment. Our emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative expression will equip our students with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of the 21st century.

Appropriately said by Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world”. It can shape an individual’s life for the best. A positive attitude, discipline, values, and skills play an equally important role in determining success along with education. Lady Khatun Marium School in 1990 had its modest beginning with a small group of students, and they carried a vision of learning English with unwavering passion.
The institution progressively evolved into a Higher Secondary school, boasting of its top-notch faculty, facilities, and promising results as the years went by. From being a small school helping underprivileged students dream, visualise and plan for their future, LKM has indeed been a single candle to light thousands, to eradicate the darkness of ignorance. We now stand strong with students and staff. The achievements of the school in curricular, co-curricular and sports reflect the success of its students in various fields. We believe in holistic education, which includes academics, co-curricular activities, sports education, and life-skills development since we know that to teach is to affect a life forever. The campus, athletic fields, and academic buildings are all evidence of this conviction.
I believe the above-mentioned points align very well with the vision of The New Education Policy (NEP), which is that education is not only about academics, but also about developing children’s social, emotional and physical skills. The recently released National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for School Education 2023 is also based on the vision of NEP and aims to positively transform the school education system in India. This will raise school education standards in our country and could take schooling beyond the narrow confines of rigid curricula. This journey of excellence, in my opinion, will never be over. I, for one, am very proud to have evolved with the Institute over the past 29 years as a witness to its growth. Seeing pupils thrive and perform gives me great pleasure and fulfilment.
