Exam pressure on child

The word exam doesn’t excite anybody. Most people experience anxiety, stress and a sense of fear when they are in the process of learning. And doing things for the first time has its thrills and its own experience. Most of us don’t remember our first examinations, because our parents made sure that we don’t feel stressed or fear when we give our first examination ever. As a new parent, now it is your turn to make sure that your kid aces the examination and is not under any pressure.

As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher. You need to set an environment at home which promotes healthy ways of learning. One needs to portray examination as an opportunity to show your true efforts and as a learning opportunity. Create an atmosphere that is full of learning with a lot of excitement and fun. There should be no fear or phobia of exam in the kid, it will affect the kid in the long run.

Here are ten tips one can follow to ace that exam:

  1. Get Organized: It’s very important to be organized with all the stuff you need for the exams. This will be a good habit for the kid in the future if it starts from now. Kids should have all the necessary stationery with them. And should know where the books and other things required for them are.

  2. Breaks: Breaks are an important part while the kid is learning, make sure that the kid is taking necessary breaks in bites – sizes. So that kids don’t feel monotonous or bored from studying.

  3. Keep A Check: Keep a check on all the progress, and tick off the topics when it’s done. Try celebrating every victory and making the child positive about the whole experience. Because you might be scared by yourself but make sure that kids don’t have that sense of fear is very important.

  4. Don’t Compare: Don’t compare your child’s learning ability and pace to other children, it might make your child self- doubt about him/ herself. Rather look for all the positive points when the child is learning.

  5. Time Management: It’s a very important point, when the child is preparing for the exam, make sure the child follows a proper time table and divides the work into realistic goals. And work accordingly.

  6. Proper Nutrition: Give your child plenty of fruits, milk and good and hearty meals to make sure that they don’t feel tired or hungry when they are studying. Ask them to take proper care of their health and give them water regularly.

  7. Yoga: Do some basic breathing exercises to realize stress or any pressure kids create while they are trying to learn. Make sure that the kids are relaxed and enjoying all the time.

  8. Make It Fun: Use pictures or rhymes to make it easy for the kids, because rhymes and visuals are comparatively easy to learn. And it’s fun too as one enjoys while learning.

  9. Enough Sleep At Night: Make sure that your kid gets a sound sleep and doesn’t feel tired while writing the exam.

  10. Breakfast: Give your kid a breakfast that includes fruits and milk, so that your kid doesn't feel tired while writing his/her first exam.

In the end, exams are not that difficult and just a part of the learning process, one shouldn’t feel scared or scared, it’s just a way to show how much we have learnt. Try making this examination session without fear. We wish you all the best for these examinations.
