The Air Force School, Delhi Cantonment (Cantt), Delhi Leaders Message

Lomina Rajiv

Lomina Rajiv

Principal

Dear Students and Parents,

As I pen this message on my desk, my heart is filled with nostalgia and anticipation. We stand at the threshold of a year dedicated to significant transformation, a year where we will not just talk about change, but witness it unfold at the ground level. I see this year not as a mere calendar progression, but as a flight plan, guiding us towards a future where our school becomes a beacon of progressive education.

This year, we are embarking on a journey, a vision I hold dear, and have aptly named 'REACH': Reform, Empowerment, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Holistic Development. 'REACH' is not just an acronym; it is the very essence of our vision for TAFS in the coming year. It encapsulates our commitment to ensuring that every student, every faculty member, and every stakeholder feels the impact of positive change.

This 'Year of Reforms' is deeply rooted in the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This is not about superficial changes; it is about fundamentally reshaping our educational approach to align with the 21st century. We will be placing a greater emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, and experiential learning. We will strive to move beyond rote memorization and cultivate a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.

A cornerstone of our 'REACH' initiative is inclusive education. We are committed to creating a learning environment where every student, regardless of their background or abilities, feels valued and supported. We will be implementing strategies to ensure that no child is left behind, and that every student can reach their full potential. This involves not only infrastructural changes, but also a shift in our mindset, fostering empathy and understanding within our school community.

One of the most exciting aspects of this year is the departmental initiatives. Each department, from Mathematics to Languages, from Sciences to Arts, will be undertaking a strategic revamp. They will be designing and implementing innovative projects and teaching methodologies that align with the 'REACH' framework. Imagine a science lab transforming into a hub of innovation, where students are encouraged to experiment and discover. Picture language classes where students engage in dynamic debates and creative writing workshops. Envision mathematics becoming a subject of exploration and discovery, rather than a source of apprehension. This is the transformation we are striving for.

As an Air Force School, we inherently understand the importance of discipline, precision, and adaptability. We will leverage these values to drive our reforms, ensuring that we remain grounded in our core principles while embracing change. We will instill in our students the same spirit of resilience and dedication that defines the Air Force, empowering them to face any challenge with courage and determination.

I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge; it is about nurturing character, fostering creativity, and empowering individuals to make a positive impact on the world. This year, we will be focusing on holistic development, ensuring that our students not only excel academically but also develop strong moral values, leadership skills, and a sense of social responsibility.

I understand that change can be daunting, but I assure you that we are in this together. We will work collaboratively, with open communication and mutual support, to ensure that this 'Year of Reforms' is a resounding success. I encourage you to embrace this journey with an open mind and a spirit of enthusiasm.

Let us, together, make this year a landmark chapter in the history of TAFS, a year where we truly 'REACH' new heights.

With unwavering faith in our collective potential,

The Air Force School, Delhi Cantonment (Cantt), Delhi About Us

The Air Force School (TAFS) was established in temporary wartime hutments at Wellington Camp, Club Road, New Delhi on 18 July 1955 with the aim of providing comprehensive modern education to children of personnel of the Indian Air Force. In May 1967, the school shifted to its present Aravali Campus at Subroto Park, Delhi Cantt. The school celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1980. The School is situated on the Aravali ridge - amidst picturesque surroundings - lined by rows of majestic Eucalyptus and Ashoka trees. In the 15 acre area of the school, there are numerous varieties of Bougainvillea, ranging from the common Pink to the rare lovely Mary Palmer which blossom throughout the year. Although the school was established primarily for the benefit of children belonging to the IAF personnel, it has always been open towards Army and Navy personnel as well as to Civilians.
Thereby it satisfies a long-felt need of the Air Force personnel and simultaneously provides quality education to a much wider spectrum of children, from all over the country.

The Air Force School is a co-educational public school with boarding facilities for boys of classes VI to XII. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and is a member of the National Progressive Schools Conference (NPSC). The school has been declared ISO certified in the year 2007.

In recognition of its excellence in education The Air Force School (TAFS) was ranked number 1 in South West Delhi by the Times School Survey (published in Times of India) for two consecutive years 2023 and 2024.
