St. Teresa’s Junior College of Education (D.El.Ed.), a Christian Minority Educational Institution, is one of the pioneering colleges of teacher-education in Mumbai. It was established by the sisters of the Congregation of Carmelite Religious in 1973. The college offers teacher education to women . It works towards the lofty ideals of creating teachers who are competent and compassionate. The focus is on conscientious sensitization of student teachers to their call to be artisans who will fashion the future of society. The Institution works steadily towards its motto of “Radiating Minds, Affecting Eternity”. The philosophy of the college is guided by the sublime principles of St. Teresa of Avila -the patron saint of the Carmelites and Mother Veronica- the foundress of the CCR Congregation.The College has a diverse and blessed timeline to swank of! It all begun in the year 1922, when a batch of nuns from the city of Trivandrum, Kerala (God’s own country) arrived at Bombay for the first time. They established a new convent in 1922.The nuns took charge of the primary school in Santacruz on 22 nd April in the year 1922. In 1973, the training college for teachers, was inaugurated and was named St. Teresa’s Institute of Education. The Special School began in the year 1989.
