According to Pokhriyal, the decision to conduct JEE Mains in more regional languages from next year was taken by the joint admission board in line with the vision of the New Education Policy. 

Pokhriyal in his tweet credited PM Narendra Modi behind the decision. He said that scoring countries in PISA examination used the mother tongue as a medium of instruction. He also added that entry to state engineering colleges decided based on an examination will be decided on that basis.

JEE Mains is conducted by NTA twice a year in three languages: English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
