60 points agenda to implement NEP: Education Ministry

The Education Ministry has drawn up 60 points agenda to implement the New National Education Policy. The ministry has decided of introducing a common entrance exam for UG colleges in non-technical courses and reforming the schooling system.

Agencies like NTA, CBSE, NCERT, and NIOS have been giving tasked to kick start the ministry’s plan from 2022-23. The government plans to conduct a common entrance exam for admission to UG non-technical courses. However, it is not mandatory for institutions to adopt the single entrance test for admission.

Also, CBSE and NIOS have been tasked with reforming the assessment system in schools. The new policy focuses on early childhood education. The NEP aims to change the current education system from 10 + 2 to 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 system. It will include five-year foundation learning, three years of preparatory learning, three years of middle school, and four years of secondary school.
