Talent & Creativity

The pandemic has hit us harder this time. Yet again we have been confined to our homes.

Unable to get out of their homes, the creativity in children is getting subdued. The time that they spend with their friends in school, exploring their creative geniuses, is not getting wasted at home. But we can very well boost the creativity in kids at home too.

Ezyschooling has thus brought to you a discussion on 'How to unleash your child's creative potential during covid-19', in association with UNLU.

Presiding over this session, we have Mr. H. R. Sharma, Principal at R.P.V.V. School Dwarka, as our esteemed panelist to talk on how we can unleash the creative potential in kids during covid-19.

Parenting is one big challenge. And if you are a parent forced into a lockdown with your child due to a global pandemic, the challenge goes to a whole new level.

Ever since lockdown was announced to contain the Coronavirus outbreak, parents across the country have been losing their sleep. On one hand, there is a pressure to perform well in the current work-from-home arrangement, and on the other, there is a constant struggle to keep children engaged and entertained. But mind you, just keeping your children 'busy' is not enough! Handing your children your phone or putting on their favourite cartoon on TV may seem okay to you in order to buy yourself some time to work peacefully, or just take out a few minutes for yourself, but you can't do that all the time! Can you?

Encouraging your little ones to indulge in something meaningful is definitely worth the extra effort. Their active engagement in constructive activities not just keeps them busy, but helps them absorb the maximum from their immediate environment while improving on all the four main areas of development: motor, language & communication, social & emotional, as well as cognitive, which includes thinking, learning and problem-solving skills.

1. Let them be your helping hands

Let children help you in the household chores like- tidying up the room, cleaning the table after meals, sorting the laundry, etc. This will not only make them feel responsible but also develop essential life skills like discipline, empathy, teamwork and problem-solving.

2. Help them grow a mung bean plant

This is a great activity to help children connect with nature. Fill a container with cotton and pour some water in it. Sprinkle some sprouted beans on top and put some more water. Place it near a well-lit window and water it twice a day. Let children observe the plant on a regular basis and they will surely be amazed to see how the seeds grow into a plant in just a week.

3. Make a family tree together

Help children realise the importance of a family and make them learn to appreciate how special your family is, big or small, near or far, by creating a family tree together. Draw, paint, paste pictures and stick leaves. Get as creative as you can! This is a beautiful family bonding activity that will help children understand their roots and relationships better, get to know about all family members and develop their organisational skills.

Hope these activities will help your little one have loads of fun while learning new things. This difficult time also has a silver lining to it. You can create a strong bond with your children, become a part of their learning journey and witness their moments of cuteness which you might have missed otherwise. You have the opportunity today, so make the most of it!
