What do we mean by sibling rivalry?

The conflict-ridden relationship between siblings of the same family is known as sibling rivalry.

The fights between siblings are very common. And a study has shown that these fights can take place over 7 times an hour.

Here are few ways with which parents can manage a sibling fight:-

1. Take out the cause of the fight- The parents should identify the cause of the argument in the sibling fight. And they should locate the problems of their children.
2. Do not take sides- Parents should treat their children equally. They should not pick the side of one child and make the other one feel guilty.
3. Avoid the negative comparison- Parents should never engage in negative comparison. They should not praise one child and demotivate the other.
4. Step into the fight only when it is needed- Do not rush into the fights of your child unless it is necessary. And let your kids solve their small fights on their own.
5. Listen to both sides- Solve the fight without any bias and listen to both sides.
6. Teach them ways to handle their conflicts- Parents should tell their children to listen to each other patiently. And teach them the ways to handle the conflicts positively.
