Delhi schools to extend their working days and shorten the summer vacation

The Delhi government announced that it will be extending working days for the students and teachers till June 18 2022 to bridge the academic gap and loss caused by Covid-19 pandemic. The Delhi Directorate of Education has stated that summer classes for Delhi schools are a must in order to cover the gap learning deficit caused by the pandemic.

Classes will be held for classes 10 and 12 and summer camps for classes 3 to 9 will be conducted till June 1. Government school teacher’s associations in Delhi, have raised concerns about the Delhi Directorate of Education’s plan, noting severe weather changes which are not suitable to hold classes. 

Schools were supposed to start the summer break from May 11 but after the DoE’s plan, students and teachers are left with 10 days for a summer break.
