Child's Skin Care

Come winter and all of us face the problem of chapped lips and dry skin. This year’s winter is especially severe. Today we give you a few tips to take care of your kid’s skin.

  1. Stay hydrated: We often think that water is not important in winters. This is far from the truth. Keep a bottle of water handy always. Milkshakes and juices are also good to keep hydration optimal. Eat foods that are high in water content. Fruits and vegetables such as oranges, spinach, fenugreek (methi) etc not only keep you hydrated but also provide a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals needed to keep cough and cold at bay during winter.

  2. Moisturize well: Have a good skincare cream handy and moisturize often (at least once or twice a day). A good routine would be to apply moisturizer immediately after a bath. Gently pat dry your child’s skin (no rubbing) and then apply lotion all over the body to seal the moisture.

  3. Keep the rashes away: Drooling chins can lead to redness around the lip area. So can wet bottoms. Apply a barrier cream on baby’s bum, lips and other areas where moisture is likely to collect. It will help immensely in keeping rashes at bay.

  4. Avoid using the heater too much: The heater, a best friend in winter for many of us, can dry up the skin and rob it of all its moisture. So avoid using it very often. Rather than turning on the heater, encourage your children to wear another layer of clothing if they feel cold.

  5. Teach your child about skincare: Teaching your child about the importance of moisturising will save you the trouble of having to remember to do it every time.  Teach them to moisturize their hands immediately after washing. Keep a handy dispenser with moisturizer near the sink to develop this habit.

Hope the above tips will help you keep a glowing and healthy skin for your child.
