Donuts are everybody’s favourite. Be it the tiny six-year-olds, teenagers or office-going adults, everyone loves to bite in one of those chocolate glazed round bread. And even though we know that too much of such an indulgence is unhealthy, we can’t seem to distance ourselves from such a tasty dessert. So, what if we are introduced to a healthy and tastier variant of our favourite donuts?

Apples are available all throughout the year and have maximum nutritional benefits. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples are rich in fibre, potassium and vitamin C and can do wonders to the human body. And the best part, you ask? Children love apples.

The recipe of apple donuts is a simple one. It combines two of the most loved children snacks, one of them being extremely healthy, and is likely to be loved by everyone. It is the best way to indulge in a chocolatey dessert without having to feel guilty about eating unhealthy food.

Peanut Butter

1/3 cup

Melted Chocolate

1/3 cup

Strawberries, sprinkles, chocolate chips

Small slices for toppings

Slice away the top and bottom from each of the apples. Now, cut the apples into ½ inch circles to shape them like donuts. You can also cut out a tiny hole in the middle to make them look more “donut-y”.

Use a butter knife to spread out the peanut butter and melted chocolate onto your apple donuts. Coat the donuts twice generously.

Once you are done with the coating, sprinkle on some toppings of your choice. Make sure that these toppings are preferred by your child to draw them towards this healthy yet tasty dish.
