“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X
The school is not merely an institution that imparts education but also helps in preparing a child for the future. It develops varied life skills in a child which they use to succeed later in life.
So, to discuss more on 'How schools help in guiding children towards the right path?', we had an enlightening discussion with two esteemed panelists from two different fields:

“Teachers encourage minds to think, hands to create and hearts to love.”
Without a teacher, an individual stands nowhere! Teachers are our guiding light who help us so that we can touch the limits of the sky. Although no one can replace a parent’s affection towards their child yet teachers perceive each child objectively in a formal environment, free from the wings of extreme parenting emotions, which helps in providing an unbiased assessment of a child’s strengths and weaknesses that further helps in handling their problems in a more professional yet careful and loving manner.
Ms. Stuti Lal, Counselor at Mount Olympus School said that their winning formula is to learn the real strengths of the child who has come to seek help. By enhancing the strength of the child they try to reduce or eliminate the problems they are facing in their day-to-day life. This is the basic idea that never fails. Besides, she uses many therapeutic techniques like playing games or just talking to solve issues in children.
The basic idea of making a child fly towards their passion is by giving them the freedom to observe and rightfully choose their passion or ambition in life. Rituka ma’am advises that parents should not make their child run the race of life and instead they should observe their kid’s happiness and willingness towards a particular subject or skill which could later turn into their passion for life.
Is counseling strictly for behavioral problems or can children, who are not facing psychological issues, also take help from a professional?
Ms. Stuti Lal mentioned that sometimes even if we are not facing any psychological issue, we just need a pair of ears to listen to our problems. So surely even if a child is not facing behavioral problems they can meet a counselor to solve their mundane issues.
One of the best ways of reducing such issues is by enacting a preventive approach because prevention is always better than cure, and such an approach is the focal point at Mount Olympus School where the life skills and awareness program is so embedded in the curriculum that it helps a child to improve their best-gifted strengths while making their day-to-day challenges go weak on its knees. The school follows the philosophy that counseling is not just for some problems like individual or family issues but it's for every child out there who needs to speak their heart out to someone.
Parent-teacher bonding is one of the important factors which affects a child’s overall development. As Ms. Stuti mentioned, a happy parent leads to a happy teacher which ultimately leads to a happy child! This bonding helps a child to win the race of life. Listed here are some ways as advised by our panelists which could help decrease the gap between teachers and parents:
