Uttar Pradesh schools to remain closed till Feb 15

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to extend the closure of schools till February 15, citing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

This announcement comes a few days after the UP government had instructed schools and other educational institutions to remain closed till Jan 30.

The order was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Home, Avanish Awasthi on Thursday. He further added that all classes in the state will continue to be online.
Meanwhile, school premises have been instructed to function as make-shift vaccination camps for ages 15-18. 

The state has reportedly vaccinated nearly 97 percent adult population with at least one dose, while 63.92 percent of the adult population has been vaccinated with both doses of vaccine against Covid. A total of 7,11,000 lakh ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state.
