The education minister, Ramesh Singh Pokhriyal urged that development is only possible by embracing our local languages. He stressed that for the development of the nation, we must rise above our ideological and regional differences. The education minister inaugurated a new building of Central Hindi Institute in Hyderabad through video conference. Pokhriyal addressed the conference expressing the need to empower Hindi and accept it as the ‘voice of India.’
He said, “When countries like Japan, France, and Israel can widely use local language for development, why can’t India?” Pokhriyal added that they are not against English as a global language. However, there’s a need to promote Hindi and all the other Indian languages.

He also noted that Hindi, with its classification of vowels, consonants, and grammar, defines the cultural identity of India. He urged that those creating controversies over languages need to understand that all Indian languages are considered equal. That is why the NEP focuses on the promotion of all local languages.
