NEET UG counselling 2021 may probably be delayed . Here's why

Source- NDTV Education

In what has already been a jading and a long year, NEET Undergraduate (UG) counseling for the year 2021 may probably be delayed further due to a petition filed against the Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC's) decision to provide 27 percent and 10 percent reservation to OBC and EWS students in All India Medical Quota seats. The MCC earlier notified undergraduate aspirants that the matter is pending in the Supreme Court of India and the next hearing is scheduled to take place on January 6. This apparently implies that the NEET UG process will most likely begin only after the ruling of the apex court of the country.

In preceding hearings, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to provide a reasonable rationale behind fixing Rs. 8 Lakh annual incomes as the criterion for securing admission through the revised 10 percent reservation quota. In November, the Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta told the court that the government would review the criteria and give details to the Court eventually thereby postponing the NEET Post-graduate counseling for an indefinite period. Although the MCC hasn't categorically stated a proper reason for the delay of the UG counseling process, the official notification on its website (MCC.nic.in),  which is easily accessible, states that the impending matter in the Supreme Court may be a solid reason for the delay.
