The St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School were born out of theideology that children must be given an environment that makes them want tocome to school every day. The schools, which were founded in 1991 by Mrs. KamalRai, follow her personal principle of promoting individuality throughvalue-based education which promotes a global outlook yet retains intrinsicIndian cultural traditions. Her guidance has also led The St. Vivekanand Sr.Sec. School to lay a great emphasis on inclusiveness.
St. Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School believes in inspiring thestudents to become successful and responsible citizens. The curriculum isdelivered through an innovative combination of classroom and activity-ledlearning. It is our mission to blend strong cultural fundamentals of theGurukul Heritage and other traditional systems with advanced modern learningtools, thus providing a new direction in education. We not only believe inimparting mere education, but also imbibe in spiritual learning.
Namaskar is theintegral part of our routine. The word ‘Namaskar’ is derived from the root‘namaha’, which means paying obeisance (derive spiritual as well as worldlyNamaskar) or salutation. From Science of Justice – ‘Namaha’ is a physical actionexpressing that ‘you are superior to me in all qualities and in every way’.Themain objective of doing Namaskar to someone is to benefits.
This tradition is followed in our school togreet each other. At SVSSS, our morning start with chanting of the GayatriMantra, which is said to purify us & increase our wisdom, spiritual growthand development. After chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, students come out oftheir classes for health run. The studies have shown the health benefits of therunning that reduces the chances of common cold to the fatal cancer. It helpsthem to improve their fitness and stamina. It also increases their bone densityand considered to be best aerobic exercise for physical conditioning of theheart and lungs. Health run is followed by meditation with 'OM' gunjan.
Students sit in meditation to concentrate themind in a spiritual ideal, to be one with it and the thought process dissolvingin the consciousness of it, which helps them to improve in three fields i.e.Pratyahara or withdrawl of the mind from the outer objects or attention totheir memory, Dharana- patience and Dhyana i.e. concentration. Meditation helpsto inculcate the power of concentration in students, which helps them to learnthings faster and more vividly.
At lunch break, the students chant BhojanMantra,"Om Brahmarpanam Brahavi-Brahmgano Brahmnahutam Brahov TenGantavayam Bramkaram Samadhina" which is played on School's PAS. Accordingto the Hindu way of life, food goes beyond just a means of body nourishment. Itis also believed to influence our mental and spiritual development. This mantragives the scientific explanation of the relationship between food and energy.
Thus the school is marching ahead with its aimto make the students the ideal citizens of India like Swami Vivekanand -physically strong, mentally balanced and spiritually enlightened.
