The school was founded on 15th November, 1970 by Mrs. E. Gasper (nee Graham), who envisaged an English Medium Co-educational school to promote and disseminate knowledge for the development of the Anglo-Indian community as well as the other communities sharing the common desire for education in English medium based on National and Catholic ethos. Late C.R. Gasper was entrusted with the responsibilities of the school as its Principal. Classes commenced from January, 1971 at 43, Ripon Street, Kolkata. The school has been named after the great Scholar of the Roman Catholic Church, Saint Augustine of Hippo (East Africa). The school has Nursery to Class XII, and is registered under the West Bengal Societies Act, 1961. It is a Minority School, administered by the code of regulations for Anglo-Indian schools and other listed schools in West Bengal and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi which conducts the ICSE and ISC Examinations.
