Welcome to the Mahindra International School (MIS), a unique and diverse institution where we empower every student to find their voice and unleash their full potential.
As the first school in India to offer the three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs a little more than twenty years ago, we understand the benefits of an IB education and have the experience and expertise to deliver all of its components to the fullest
Our mission to Inspire Learning, Foster Responsibility, and Celebrate Diversity sets high expectations for all school constituents. It is reflected in our commitment to rigorous, relevant, and enjoyable teaching and learning experiences that motivate our students to work hard and become lifelong learners. Students develop a sense of shared responsibility for the well-being of our communities and the sustainability of our environment; they embrace the notion that international education comes with the responsibility of contributing to a better world. With more than 30 nationalities on campus, our students develop empathy, understanding, and an appreciation for the differences that make our school such a culturally rewarding experience.
At MIS, we strive to ensure that all children feel a sense of purpose and belonging and are seen for who they are. We are not a one-size-fits-all school and our small size, which has been maintained intentionally over the years, allows us to sustain a tight-knit community with a family feel. The strong partnerships we develop with our families enable us to understand the specific needs of our students and to provide them with what they need to be successful.
Our school vision of “An Empowered, Innovative, and Agile community of learners who achieve and contribute positively within and beyond the school” was put into action and tested during the Covid pandemic. We were able to quickly implement effective online and hybrid teaching and learning models. Despite the hardships, we learned to adapt and developed new skills that continue to serve us today as we face new exciting opportunities and challenges. The large-scale introduction of generative AI tools in our lives and in our schools is a perfect example of this, as we explore ways to learn, and teach all our constituents how to use these new tools effectively and ethically. But the biggest lesson we learned during the Covid years was that nothing could replace the experience of being together on campus. The social interactions that take place in and out of the classroom are essential to the growth and well-being of our students and fundamental to our teaching and learning philosophy. This is evident to anyone spending time at our school and I invite you to plan a visit to see for yourself!

Founded in 1998, originally under the name Mercedes-Benz International School, MIS is a well-established, non-profit school serving Pune’s expatriates, repatriating Indian families and also globally minded Indian families who wish to offer an international education to their children.Currently, more than 30 nationalities are represented within a student body of about 360 students. Our diverse community shares a common “Statement of Purpose – We promote learning, encourage responsibility and celebrate diversity”.
