Age Criteria for KG School Admission Form in Delhi 2026-27

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has laid down clear age guidelines for admissions to KG (Kindergarten) classes in Delhi schools. For the academic session 2026-27, Delhi schools will continue to follow the current structure; meaning KG will still be a single class, since the new Lower KG (Balvatika 2) and Upper KG (Balvatika 3) levels will be introduced only from 2027-28 onward.

To be eligible for KG admission in 2026-27, your child must be:

• At least 4 years old and not older than 5 years as on 31 March 2026
• Born between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022

From the following session (2027-28), the KG stage will be restructured into two levels under the new NEP-aligned Foundational Stage: Lower KG and Upper KG. 

If you’re applying for KG admission in 2026–27, your child will continue under the current structure. This means:

• Your child will join KG in 2026-27 at 4+ years (born between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022).
• In 2027-28, your child will move up to Class 1 at around 5+ years, just like before.
• The new Balvatika system (LKG and UKG) will not affect this batch, they’ll complete pre-primary in one year (KG) and move straight to primary school.
• From 2028-29 onwards, new Class 1 admissions will require 6+ years. However, your child will already be past that stage, so there’s no change for you.

  • 6 to 8 Km – 30 Points

  • The latest paid Electricity bill/MTNL telephone bill/Water bill/Passport in the name of any of the parents or child
  • Aadhar/ UID Card of any of the parents
• Birth Certificate, for proof of age
• Tuition fee receipt of the applicant’s sibling, in case you are applying via the sibling quota
