Age Criteria for KG School Admission Form in Delhi 2024-25

Strict limitations on age criteria to fill kg admission form in delhi have been set by the DoE for admissions in Delhi schools. For your child to be eligible for KG admission in Delhi, you need to ensure that he/she is 4-5 years old.

For instance, you can apply for your child’s KG admission if they were born between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023. In the case of specially-abled students, their age needs to be less than 6 years as of March 31, 2024.

There is also an age relaxation of 30 days applicable on both the lower and upper age limits.

Point System For KG Admission Form in Delhi 2024-25

Schools in Delhi follow certain criteria when it comes to accepting admissions in entry-level classes. The most eminent among these is the Point System. As per this provision, candidates are allocated points on the basis of several indicators to fill admission form for kg class in delhi, such as:

Distance from Residence to School: Points are allotted based on the distance between the candidate’s residence and the school they have applied to. The nearer the student lives, the more points are awarded.

The bifurcation of points can vary from school to school. For example, here is how a school might reward points as per the distance of the student’s residence from the school.

For distances up to 6 Km – 40 Points

6 to 8 Km – 30 Points

More than 8 Km – 20 Points

Girl Child: Certain schools allocate points if the candidate is a girl child.
Single Parent: Candidates having single parents might also get weightage in that particular school’s awarding of points.
Siblings: Siblings points are given if the student to be admitted has his/her brother or sister as a student in the school.
First Child: First child points are given if the student to be admitted is the firstborn child.
Alumni: Alumni points are given if the student's mother or father were a student of the same school.
Staff Ward: Staff ward points are given if the student is a child of teaching or non-teaching staff of the same school.

What if Several Candidates Score Similar Points?

Delhi KG admissions experience quite some traffic every year. Among the pool of applications that come in, it is no wonder if two or more students end up scoring the same points as per the point system.

When such a situation occurs, schools draw lots to decide on the one candidate that will be selected. This draw of lots is recorded live, as per the instructions of the Directorate of Education, and should be shared on the official school site.

Further, to ensure full transparency, schools should most preferably conduct this drawing of lots in the presence of the parents.

EWS Criteria for KG Admission Form

As per the admission criteria to fill the kg admission form which is formulated by the Directorate of Education, some relief has been provided to students belonging to the economically weaker section.

25% of the total seats in class KG are thus reserved for students belonging to disadvantaged groups.

Documents Required for KG Forms in Delhi Schools 2024-25

Passport-size pictures of the child and parents, at least 2 of each
A print-out of the filled application form, just in case
A family photo consisting of the parents and the child
Proof of residence, any two of the following should be kept ready:
- A ration Card issued in any one of the parent's name should have the child’s name on it
- Domicile Certificate of either the child or any of the parents
- Voter ID of any of the parents
- Electricity/ Water/ Phone Bill issued to any of the parents
- Aadhar/ UID Card of any of the parents
Birth Certificate, for proof of age
Tuition fee receipt of applicant’s sibling, in case you are applying via the sibling quota
Proof regarding parents being alumni of the school, for those applying via the alumni criteria
