Manish Sisodia, during the 57th general meeting council of NCERT, suggested that the syllabus for all classes should be reduced to 50% because of the loss of classroom learning due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also said that from next year exams like JEE and NEET should be based on a reduced syllabus.

He suggested that CBSE should not conduct the class 12 exam before May 2021. Previously, exams were held in February and March. The AAP Government urged CBSE to postpone board exams to May next year and further reduce the syllabus as schools remain close due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Schools and colleges were ordered to close on March 16 due to the pandemic. Many restrictions have been relaxed in different phases of Unlock since June 8, but educational institutions are still closed.

However, as per Unlock 5 guidelines education institutions outside the COVID-19 containment zone can reopen after October 15. But the ultimate decision on reopening the institution has been left with the state and union territories. The Delhi government has decided to close schools and colleges till October 31.
