Schools in India have shut down since the last week of March and there is nothing clear about when the schools will reopen. According to MHRD, after the schools are reopened, classes will run in 2-3 shifts considering the norms of social distancing. The ministry also might issue guidelines to ban any sort of social events, sports, seminars in the schools. Social distancing will be of utmost importance whether in the school bus or in the classrooms. The ministry added that it would be more challenging to manage the younger children who mingle a lot with each, to maintain social distance.
Moreover, there will also be actions taken to ensure hygiene in the school washrooms as many children use the same washroom.
The ministry has also started collecting data of teachers, students and infrastructure at schools to assess the possibility of running schools in different shifts.
