Delhi schools to remain shut

All the schools in Delhi will remain closed till October 31 due to the coronavirus pandemic, said, deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Earlier, the Delhi government ordered to close the school till October 5. Mr. Sisodia tweeted that Delhi schools will remain closed till October 31 due to the Corona pandemic. He wrote that CM Arvinder Kejriwal understands the seriousness of the situation and it will not be appropriate to take any risk regarding the health of students.

Earlier this week, in its announcement for ‘unlock 5’ the Central government allowed the State and the Union territories government to decide on reopening schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in a graded manner after October 15. The center said that students may attend schools only after written consent from their parents. The State government opting to restart schools must ensure attendance is not enforced and that it depends on parental consent. Union territories and state governments were asked to make their own SoPs.

Delhi is the second worst-affected state in the country, still has nearly three lakh confirmed cases. There are about 5400 deaths and around 25,000 active cases in Delhi.
