Maharashtra Class 10 SSC results by June end, says education minister Gaikwad

While excluding Class 10 examinations for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board, Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Friday said students will be assessed through internal assessment for the academic year 2020-21. 

Results will be reported by June end. Gaikwad advised mediapersons that admissions to class 11 will be conducted physically through Common Entrance Test (CET) in light of the class 10 syllabus. Those reluctant to appear for CET will be promoted based on their class 10 marks. 

"These decisions were taken after a series of meetings with teaching specialists, policy makers, teachers and parents associations. The process of internal assessment was discussed with all concerned authorities. We have held 24 gatherings in the course of the last couple of months," she said. "students will be assessed on 100 marks. The end-product will be considered as marks in all subjects," she added. 

While admitting that the assessment cycle was "ad-hoc" however "practical" in the given conditions, Gaikwad said, "The idea is to accommodate all perspectives. However, if the student is unhappy with the outcomes, they will be allowed two opportunities to sit for exams when the circumstance improves."
