Kerala Government Announces Special Package For Children Orphaned By COVID-19

Under the package, at first, a measure of Rs 3 lakhs will be given to the kids as a single amount. Additionally, a measure of Rs 2,000 every month will also be given till they reach the age of 18. 

The Kerala Government on Thursday declared an exceptional package for kids orphaned by COVID-19 in the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, "We need to take care of the kids who have lost their Father and Mother because of COVID-19. An special package will be implemented for the care of such children." 

Under the package, at first, a measure of Rs 3 lakhs will be given to the kids as a lump sum. Furthermore, an amount of Rs 2,000 every month will also be given till they are 18. 

"The Government has also chosen to bear the expense of their schooling up to the degree level," he said.
