Kapil Dev Appointed As Chancellor Of Haryana Sports University

Haryana sports minister Anil Vij recently tweeted that Kapil Dev will be appointed as the first chancellor of Haryana sports university at Rai, Sonipat.

This university will be the third sports university established by a state government after Swarnim Gujarat Sports University ( Gandhi Nagar) and Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University ( Chennai). It will offer academic and training programmes in physical education.

Kapil Dev, also known as the Haryana Hurricane is himself from Haryana and had contributed a lot in shaping the Indian cricket. The cricket legend who fulfilled the dream of millions of Indians by winning the first world cup as a captain has always been an inspirational figure when it comes to sports and cricket. Having him as a chancellor of Haryana Sports University is a decision which is appreciated.

Haryana is a state which has always excelled in sports overcoming all the barriers. At present, Haryana is counted as a state with the maximum contribution in sports bringing many medals from every field and competitions.

 Having a sports university in the state was important as many youngsters in Haryana want to make their future in the field of sports but lack behind due to lack of facilities and funds. Even a lot of biographies and movies have tried to highlight the fact that Haryana has a lot of potential when it comes to sports but the state lacks behind due to poor facilities and government support.

This university will offer training for sports management, sports infrastructure, sports psychology, engineering, sports nutrition, sports journalism and sports marketing.

There are a lot of courses and training offered by the university and now having Kapil Dev as a chancellor has even increased our expectations related to facilities and faculty of the university.

The state cabinet has recently approved the proposal and the university is all set to have their first chancellor.
