A proper eating schedule is often disrupted for teenagers managing school, tuitions, homework, extra-curricular and hanging out with friends all collectively. There’s no time for meals and especially healthy eating when the items that are most available to them are snacks and junk food. If this is the case, you need to add healthy snacking to your child’s daily schedule.

Here’s how you can fit smart and healthy snacking in your child’s schedule.

  • Prepare healthy snacks for them in advance- Pack and refrigerate in advance foods that contain fibre like brown bread or whole-grain bread, fruits, or vegetables and put them with protein-rich food items like peanut butter or low-fat cheese or yoghurt.
  • Make attractive snacks for them- Make healthy snacks for them like broccoli cheese bread, whole wheat eggless banana or whole wheat choco-chip cookies for your kids that are interesting, healthy and delicious as well.
  • Read serving information-. What seems like a small packet of biscuits or cookies can carry for 2 or more servings which means two or three the amounts of fat, calories, and sugar for one person compared to what is shown on the label.
