The Delhi government has decided to reopen schools and other educational institutions amidst dipping COVID-19 cases.

Students of classes 9-12 can attend physical classes from Feb 7, whereas school for students from Nursery to Class 8 will reopen from Feb 14.
Colleges, universities, and coaching institutes have also been instructed to open their doors for offline classes.

The pandemic-induced school closures have not only affected their studies but also their mental health. During COVID, our priority was children's safety. But since various researches have now found that COVID is not so harmful to kids, it is important to reopen the schools, as now is the time for exams and related preparations", Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia said.

For those who are unable to attend physical classes, online classes are expected to continue. Vaccination of teachers has been made mandatory and those who are not vaccinated will not be allowed on campus. All other necessary precautions and SOPs have also been made mandatory by the DDMA.

Earlier, the Delhi government had recommended the reopening of schools in the DDMA meeting on January 27. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had also advocated for the reopening of schools and colleges saying a generation of children will be left behind if schools are not opened soon.

A relaxation in COVID-19 curbs has also been announced with the timings of night curfew being revised. The gyms had also been allowed to reopen with certain restrictions, according to the DDMA.
