Ramnivas Ruia Junior College is a part or Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College established in June 1937 by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. It was the first educational institution in Mumbai run by a private management educational body.The college was declared open formally by H.E. Sir Roger Lumley, the then Governor of Bombay, on 3rd Dec 1937. Ramnivas Ruia Junior College works assiduously to nurture and foster an innovative academic environment for English Medium as well as Marathi Medium students. Following the introduction of the ten-plus –two-plus-three pattern of Education, it was considered advisable to establish a separate unit in the college to house the plus-two set up. With the financial assistance by the House of Ruia the new junior college was set up and named; Ramnivas Ruia Junior College of Arts and Science. Ramnivas Ruia Junior College provides education in Arts and Science. The college also offers Bifocal Courses like Electronics and Computer Science. It has well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electronics and IT laboratories along with very good sports facilities. It is considered as one of the best Junior Colleges of Mumbai due to its high academic standard and discipline. Our teachers play a significant role in developing and encouraging students for critical thinking, fostering creativity and motivating students to excel in academic as well as co-curricular activities. The Junior College Arts association is a platform for the Junior College students to showcase their talent. Teachers and students come together and put up a cultural event of Arts Association, ‘ENRICHING MINDS’ to promote and broaden the cultural, artistic, musical talent as well as other performing arts. The focus is on the holistic development of the students, following our logo,The Junior College Science association gives an opportunity to students to promote their research culture on advanced topics in science and technology. With a view to inculcate scientific temper among the students lectures by experts are organised. In order to reveal the scientific principles through hands on experiments, the aim being to create conditions for education that enhance the students’ academic and personal development by uniting high-level academic knowledge with practical education, Science Exhibition is organized every year, following our logo, “EXPLORE-EXPERIENCE-EXCEL” . The final aim of Ruia College is to train students to be future leaders while endowing them with the thirst for knowledge and inspiring them to strive for the best and lifelong learning and self development through study, research and academic endeavour.
