Who is Eligible for Admission to a Central School?

This is a pressing subject because it is well-known that not everyone can apply and be accepted. Is it then limited to the children of central government employees? Not at all. Admissions are normally open to anyone, as stated in the entrance notice. The only caveat is that KVs have a priority list to follow in order to fill the seats.

The following is a summary of the list:

  1. Children of both transferable and non-transferable central government employees.
  2. Descendants of ex-servicemen.
  3. Offspring of employees working in the Institute of Higher Learning under the Government of India, Public Sector Undertakings, and Autonomous bodies, regardless of their transferability status.
  4. Offspring of both transferable and non-transferable state government employees.
  5. Both children and grandchildren of employees in the Project Sector.
  6. Sole daughters (with no other siblings).

The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are each given 15% and 7.5% of the seats, respectively. Additionally, 3% of the available seats are set aside for kids with disabilities.

The Deputy Commissioner of the specific region has the authority to permit admissions up until July 31 or until the required strength for each class is met if seats remain open even after the last deadline for admissions, which is typically June 30. These admissions will likewise be handled in order of priority.

Special provisions include:

Special provisions for children and grandchildren of KVS employees, parliament members, government employees who died in service, and recipients of various awards.

Additional provisions for children with bravery awards, Rashtrapati Puraskar in Scouts & Guides, meritorious sports children, single girl children, children of National Award for Teachers recipients, Ministry of HRD employees’ children, and those with special talents in Fine Arts at the National or State level.

Admission Process

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Process for 2024 is different for each grade level, which includes classes 1, 2–8, 9-10 and 11-12. Still, the KV priority group system and RTE reserved seats are the same in every class. Notably, under the PM CARES for Children Scheme, children who have lost both parents because of the COVID-19 epidemic will be accepted even if the class is full.

Admissions are based on a list made by the District Magistrate. Each KV can only have a maximum of 10 children, and each class can only have a maximum of 2 kids. From first grade to 12th grade, these kids won't have to pay for tuition, the computer fund, or VVN.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Admissions 2024 for Class 1

In 2024, there will be no test to get into the first grade. Instead, seats will be given out in several lots: first, according to the RTE, a lottery will be held for SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC/differently-abled children; then, a lottery will be held for differently-abled students in different categories; and finally, the remaining seats will be given out using the existing priority category system. If there are any empty seats marked for SC/ST/OBC-NCL students, they will be filled by admitting students from these groups based on how they rank for admission. If any places are still open, applicants from priority groups 3 and higher will be considered for admission.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Admissions 2024 for Classes 2 to 8

In 2024, there will be no entrance exam for KV classes 2 through 8.

The priority category allotment method decides who gets the seats.

If there are more applications than there are spots, a lottery method will be used in each category.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Class 10 and 12th Admission 2024

For Class 10 and 12 admissions in 2024, if a Kendriya Vidyalaya has less than 40 students in these classes, the Deputy Commissioner of the Region may open admissions based on seat availability. Eligible students must be studying in a CBSE-affiliated school, have achieved a minimum aggregate of 55% in their respective Class 9 or 11 exams, and choose from the available subject combinations in Kendriya Vidyalayas.

What is a Lottery Number in KV Admission?

Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) use the "Lottery Number" technique to give seats to the children of private or self-employed employees during the admissions process. When there are more applicants than there are spots in this group, a lottery is used to make sure that the process is fair and clear.

Here's how the system usually works for Lottery Numbers:

  • The central government employee ward is the first focus.
  • The army and ex-army man-child have second priority.
  • The third priority is for government personnel.
  • The single-girl-child quota is the fourth priority.
  • The fifth priority is for private or self-employed personnel.

A lottery method makes sure that the admissions process for private or self-employed workers is fair and doesn't favour applicants based on certain factors. It gives all eligible kids in this group the same chance to get a seat in a Kendriya Vidyalaya, which can be hard to do because there are only so many seats.

Documents Required at the Time of Admission

The following documents must be presented by parents/students at the time of admission.

  • A birth certificate is issued by the body competent to record births for class one.
  • For classes 2nd and up, the Transfer certificate provided by the last school attended.
  • The responsible authority issues a category certificate to candidates (SC/ ST/ EWS/ OBC-NCL/ BPL).
  • Proof of either of the child's parents' ties with the Hon'ble Member of Parliament/ PSU employee/ KVS employee (if applicable)
