Yes, UTIs are a common infection in young kids. But unfortunately, many parents, aren’t aware of this condition till the time it becomes severe. It happens when bacteria, often from the skin or rectum, enters the urethra and infects the urinary tract. There are two types of UTIs most likely to affect children i.e. Bladder infection and kidney infection. According to various studies, 8% of girls and 2% of boys will get UTIs by the age of 5. Girls are more prone to this infection because their urethra is shorter and closer to the anus which makes it easier for the bacteria to enter the urethra.

If you notice any of the above-mentioned symptoms, you should immediately go to the doctor and he'll know the right type of medicine to prescribe to kill the bacteria. Drinking plenty of water and some antibiotics can help in treating this.
