Yes, UTIs are a common infection in young kids. But unfortunately, many parents, aren’t aware of this condition till the time it becomes severe. It happens when bacteria, often from the skin or rectum, enters the urethra and infects the urinary tract. There are two types of UTIs most likely to affect children i.e. Bladder infection and kidney infection. According to various studies, 8% of girls and 2% of boys will get UTIs by the age of 5. Girls are more prone to this infection because their urethra is shorter and closer to the anus which makes it easier for the bacteria to enter the urethra.

Symptoms:

  1. Pain or burning while peeing.
  2. Fever.
  3. Fussiness.
  4. Foul smell or cloudy pee.
  5. Nausea.
