The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will be hearing a plea seeking cancellation of CBSE, CISCE Term 2, and other offline board exams.
The plea seeks the cancellation of board exams like CBSE, CISCE, ICSE, NIOS. It also seeks to prepare alternative methods of assessment in place of offline board exams, considering hardships faced by students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This plea was mentioned before Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana by advocate Prashant Padmanabhan for urgent listing. It will now be listed before a bench led by Justice AM Khanwilka.
Last year, almost all state and central education authorities had to cancel board exams like CBSE, CISCE due to the raging second wave of Covid. Other alternative modes of evaluation were formulated.
With a plea pending in the SC, it is possible that offline board exams get cancelled this year as well.
