Schools hiding Covid-cases among the teachers to prevent shut-down

Teacher’s associations in Nagpur city have charged the school authorities with hiding positive covid cases of Covid-19 among teachers only to avoid their school buildings being sealed for a week or so by civic authorities. And this has left the school teachers at risk of infections. The authorities are virtually forcing them to visit campus even if the schools are closed for the students.

In the last month, civil officials sealed a college near Deekshabhoomi when some of its staff was tested positive. But a CBSE school teacher said, “Shockingly, no such action is being taken against schools. We know about more than 30 dozen teachers testing positive in various schools but the authorities are forcing all other members to report to school. And she said that technically, all such schools should be sealed.”

Another teacher, from a well-known CBSE school with various branches in both city and rural Nagpur, said their Management is also ignoring all Covid-19 guidelines.

Also, the CBSE school staff welfare association president Deepali Dabli said that the majority of teachers were scared to report to work. And the reason for this non-report was their colleagues being tested positive. And Dabli was not blaming teachers for not wanting their complaint to be official, because she knows they might lose their jobs. Also, she further added, that her association can take up the issue on behalf of the teachers.
