According to an official, the government of Uttar Pradesh extended the closure for all schools for students up to Class 8 till April 11 due to a spike in corona virus cases in the state on Friday.

Earlier, the government had to shut down schools for students up to Class 8 till March 31 but the state has reported 2,600 new COVID-19 cases and nine fatalities on Thursday, pushing the infection tally of the state to 6,19,783 and the death toll to 8,820, 

During the review meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his 5-Kalidas Marg residence issued the fresh directions of the closure of schools for students up to Class 8 till April 11, adding to that authorities have been also ordered to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are being followed for the other classes. During this period, teachers will not be conducting any education activities but they will continue to go to schools for administrative work. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to give him a report regarding reactivating the COVID-19 hospitals by evening 

On Thursday, Lucknow reported the highest active cases of 935 cases followed by 242 from Allahabad, 198 from Varanasi and 103 from Kanpur Nagar and therefore he have directed special alertness in such cities the bulletin had said. Also, Adityanath has asked the officials to increase coverage of the vaccination against COVID-19 in the state.
