In one of the biggest satires in Bengaluru’s history, the City — aka the education hub of India — has the lowest school admissions in entire Karnataka. The Department of Public Teaching released the latest admission data (as enrolled in Student Achievement Tracking System) which shows that both North and South divisions of Bengaluru district are at the bottom two. Experts say this happened after many children discontinued their education following the pandemic. The latest data, as on July 5, states that Chamarajanagar, Haveri and Dharwad are leading in school admissions with 76 per cent, 75 per cent and 69 per cent, respectively.

Surprisingly, Bengaluru divisions are the lowest in the State with Bengaluru South being at the bottom of the table with just 13 per cent of admissions and Bengaluru North holds the second last position with 22 per cent of admissions.

In Bengaluru, only 10.34 per cent of children have been registered for first standard, 30.71 per cent for standard 6 and 18.69 per cent for standard 8.
