As per the new National Education Policy, students studying in classes 6 to 8 will have ’bag-less classes’ for 10 days every year. During this period, students will receive vocational education by experts like carpenters, potters, and artists.

The #NEPTransformingIndia initiative was launched recently. Under this initiative, users were allowed to ask questions regarding the NEP. Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was addressing questions asked by users on October 1.

A user asked how the Government intended to implement the skill development plan, a part of the NEP. In response, the minister shared the ‘bag-less’ period plan. He added that similar internship opportunities will be provided to students in classes 6 to 12. He also mentioned that Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs) will be conducted to ensure teachers with requisite skills are available. The test will cover teachers across all SE stages. These teachers will also participate in at least 50 hours of CPD opportunities annually.
