Schools in Punjab have reopened from the 7th of January. However, the reopening of schools, and the attendance of all students isn't necessary. Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, also emphasized that online or distance learning shall still be the preferred mode of teaching. To ensure students' safety and avoid the transmission of the coronavirus, safety precautions are put into place.

If the strength of the students is massive within the school and social distancing norms aren't practically applicable, the school head or management can make a decision whether or not to carry on classes in 2 shifts or call the kids on alternate days. Singla also stated that parents ought to encourage their kid to wear mask and full sleeves garments when attending classes. In the classrooms, staffrooms, workplace, and alternative places of public interaction, six feet and social distancing ought to be maintained.
Students and employees residing in containment zones mustn't attend school and alternative academic institutes asserted the School Education Minister. The Union Health Ministry suggested that older, pregnant, and workers who have medical conditions ought to take improved precautions.
