Pregnancy is a journey that is full of ups and downs. On one side, there is happiness and excitement. On the other side, there are consecutive mood swings, anxiety and irritability. There are not only changes in the body but in hormones too. In short, pregnancy can lead to postpartum depression for a new mother. But the worst thing is that most of them don't even realise it.

How long does it last?
Postpartum depression starts post-delivery makes a woman feel tired and sad. This depression phase lasts for 4 to 6 weeks after delivery. In some cases, it even starts during pregnancy and lasts over 1 year.

What should be done?
Consulting a professional is the best way to get over with postpartum depression. If the mother is not feeling well even after 2-3 weeks post-delivery then she should consult the doctor immediately. Talk to them about how you feel, honestly. You can open up with your loved ones to improve the condition.
