The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has extended the last date for applying for admissions to Class I from March 21st to April 11th.  This 3-week extension came into being after the Delhi HC, on Wednesday, deferred passing an interim against the minimum age criteria of 6 years for admission to class I, given that the court was told that the last date of applying for admissions online was to be extended by 3 weeks.

Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court had mandated that there cannot be two kinds of schools listing different age criteria for admission to the same class, i.e. the same education. This was in view of Kendriya Vidyalayas listing 6 years as the minimum age criteria for admission to class I, while the other Delhi schools listed the same as 5.

In view of the 3-week extension, the Delhi High Court has granted 10 days’ time to the Central government and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to file their counter affidavit. The matter will be heard next on April 5th.
