Sometimes the mom-to-be does not realize the impact of oral health and hygiene on their pregnancy and child’s oral health. Prenatal dental care is essential for both child and mother. Stages of prenatal dental care

  • Pre-conceiving stage: It is an ideal stage to get a dental health check when you decide to plan a baby. There is no restriction on medication, X-ray imagining or even duration of types of treatment.
  • During pregnancy: The dental visit after you have conceived become essential. There may be a restriction to medications in the first and last trimester. However, 2nd trimester is safe for treating any dental problem.
  • Prenatal home care:
    • Consumer variety of tooth-friendly diet.
    • If a mom suffers from morning sickness they must carefully brush after every episode of vomiting.
    • Follow your daily care routine which involves brushing twice a day with a soft brush.
