Haryana Govt Decides To Not Hold Board Exams for Classes 5, 8 This Year

The Haryana government on Monday decided to defer their decision to take board exams for classes 5 and 8 this year.

This comes after heavy protests by parents of schools students against the government’s decision to introduce board exams for classes 5, 8.

The parents cited that students will not be able to sit through the additional pressure of appearing for boards as the pandemic had already taken a mental toll on them. Children have already faced learning gaps and it would be unfair to expect them to prepare for board exams in under a month.

This issue has also been taken to court at the Chandigarh High Court by the subject, Haryana United Schools & others vs. State of Haryana and others.

Earlier the Haryana government decided to introduce board exams for classes 5 and 8 by amending the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules (2011).
