The Queen Mary’s School, in Tis Hazari, in Delhi had been shut down for a week following a Covid-positive report of one of the 11th standard student. The student had tested positive on February 27 and the school had to be shut down after several parents came out to protest regarding the same. The parents claimed that the school had failed in implementing the SOP and hence the school was announced shut from March 2nd to March 6th.

However, the school authorities are now claiming that the student testing Covid-positive was a hoax pulled by the student’s family. The school made a written to the DoE and Education Minister stating, “instead of informing school authorities, she [parent of the student] circulated the medical report on the parents’ WhatsApp group with an intention of instigating them and claimed that her daughter had contracted corona due to the negligence of school authorities, thus misled the parent community. As a result of this fake news on 01.03.21, parents congregated in the school campus. Due to this, the school management had to take the decision to close the school for six days.” The written complaint also mentioned, “School department verified the said Covid-19 test report… from the said hospital and on verification, it was found that the said report is forged and fabricated”.
